When rounding look at the ones place first and then the ten's place etc... (or whatever place you are rounding in the directions). Let's take a example:
round 58 to the nearest 10's place.
The 5 is in the 10's place. Look at the
number in the ones place.
If the number is 5 or above you move
the number up to the next 10's spot.
The answer would be 60.
Another way to think about it is money.
If you have 58 cents, is it closer to
60 cents or 50 cents?
How about the nearest 1,000 place?
1,989
One is in the thousands place. Nine is in the hundreds place. Is nine hundred closer to
1,000 or 0. It's over the 500 mark, so the answer would be 2,000.
Rounding numbers may seem simple; but not for everyone. I have more trouble rounding numbers then I do with fractions. It is important to remember that there are some things that are confusing to some and not others. Just because you may have difficulty with one thing, it doesn't apply to everything!
Sometimes simple things can be the most difficult. I don't know whether it is true, but it's been said that Albert Einstein couldn't tie his shoelaces until he was around 9 years old. He was also dyslexic. Yet, Albert Einstein was one of the greatest mathematicians of our time famous for his Theory of Relativity. If you have difficulties with certain things that has no barring on your full potential or your intelligence!

The rounding numbers video will take a little longer to download; the 1st video is around 2 minutes, the 2nd is around 4 and a half. (This will also depend on your connection speed)
Take the moment to grab some water or maybe practice a bit. Thank you.
